Transmission frequencies change for MUX-1, MUX-2 and MUX-4 multiplexes

As it was remembered, as part of the signal conversion to DVB-T2 / HEVC, the multicast frequencies will change: MUX-1, MUX-2 and MUX-4, which will be converted to the DVB-T2 / HEVC standard.

“In practice, this means better picture and sound quality – all channels will be broadcast in Full HD. The MUX-3 multiplexer does not temporarily change the broadcast standard” – indicated.

The Digital Poland Association, in turn, reminds viewers to check whether their television sets are adapted to the new signal standard.

“Changes in digital terrestrial television broadcasting are taking place gradually from the end of March and will continue until the end of June” – the Digital Poland Association reported. As he added, currently within the scope of DVB-T2 / HEVC there are residents of the following counties: Dolnośląskie, Lubuskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, Entire-Pomorsky, Wielkopolskie and the northwestern part of Mazowieckie.

“From May 23 this area will be significantly expanded and the new standard will reach all viewers who live in the Śląskie, Małopolskie, ódzkie and Opolskie districts. It is located around the Radom district and the surrounding area)” – he said.

As noted by Michał Kanownik, President of Cyfrowa Polska, “It will be the largest contact area for the new broadcasting standard in Poland”.

For those who will have to replace the receiver, Cyfrowa Polska mentions government funding for the purchase of a set-top box or TV. If we decide to buy a new TV, we can get a voucher worth PLN 250.

Experts refer to the website www.gov.pl/CyfrowaTV, where you can apply online for such state funding. This can also be done through the offices of Poczta Polska.

The Digital Poland Association has announced that the next and final connection to DVB-T2 / HEVC is scheduled for June 27. It will cover the rest of the cities of Mazowieckie county, including Warsaw, Podlaski, Wormsko-Mazorsky and Lubelski. Thus, the entire territory of the country will already be covered by the new digital terrestrial television broadcasting standard.

Why is hardware replacement necessary?

The change in the digital terrestrial television standard has already affected the following counties: Dolnośląskie, Lubuskie, Zachodniopomorskie, Pomorskie, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, most areas of Wielkopolskie and the northwestern part of Mazowieckie. On Monday, it was joined by these regions: Malopolsky, Olinsky, Opolski, ódzki, سwitokrzyskie, Podkarpackie, the southern part of Mazowiecki and the southeastern part of Greater Poland.

Changing the standard to DVB-T2 / HEVC is associated with the transfer of part of the band occupied by terrestrial television to telecom operators who will be able to develop a 5G network. Standard changeover covers: MUX-1 (TVP ABC, Eska TV, Polo TV, Stopklatka, Antena HD, TV Trwam, Fokus TV), MUX-2 (TVN, TVN7, Polsat, Super Polsat, TV4, TV6, TV Puls , Puls 2) and MUX-4 (Events24). All channels are now broadcast from multiplex in High Definition (HD). On the other hand, MUX-3 (TVP1 HD, TVP2 HD, TVP Info HD, TVP Sport HD, TVP3, TVP Historia and Check TV) and MUX-8 (TVP Kultura HD, TVP Woman, Metro, Zoom TV, Nowa TV and WP). People with old equipment will lose access to it, among others TVN, Polsatu, TV Puls and TV Trwam, if they don’t replace it.

What does DVB-T2 / HEVC do

DVB-T2 / HEVC allows you to stream more TV channels and improve the quality of their images. In the provinces where the change has occurred, all stations are broadcast in the new standard in HD (High Definition) quality. In the fall, Telewizja Polska plans to launch new thematic channels. This will likely be TVP Nauka, TVP 4K and TVP Muzyka.

We recently reported that immediately after the change of the terrestrial digital television standard in the Lubuskie and Dolnośląskie regions, MUX-1 reduced its coverage by 28.3%, and MUX-2 by 33.9%. The channel pool from MUX-3 and MUX-8 (TVP Kultura HD, TVP Female, Metro, Zoom TV, Nowa TV, WP), which have not yet switched to DVB-T2/HEVC, increased by 0.5%.
