Game mods have rarely had much luck with the directors, and at least the script is acceptable. Is the creator of Residet Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City giving fans the long-awaited movie? You will find out from our review.
2021 was a tough year for cinematography. There are not many large addresses, and we can already enumerate them with the fingers of one hand. “No Time to Die”, “Dion” and now “Spider-Man No Way Home” are the hottest and highest-grossing movie shows of the year so far. Of course, the Resurrection Matrix will be coming soon as well, and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was released a few days ago.
Perhaps there is no player who does not know the Resident Evil series. Gentlemen are responsible for creating this course Shinji Mikami And Tokoro FujiwaraBiohazard (because that’s the name of this game in Japan) was released in 1996 on PlayStation. This is what we owe to the kind of game we call it survival horror. This title takes place in an alternate reality, where the evil Umbrella has unleashed a virus that turns people into zombies.
Resident Evil made such an amazing sensation that in 2002 it was decided to shoot it. The movie gained a lot of fans, but they were people who are not fans of the game. Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is primarily intended for the latter audience. It was just meant to be A specific love letter addressed to the players. To what extent have the creators been able to do this? You will find out by reading this Resident Evil review. Welcome to Raccoon City. So load up your guns and head to the zombies!
Back to the roots
At first I can say that Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City is one of the best mods I’ve ever seen. The film takes place in the year 1998, in Raccoon City. Most of the residents, many of whom work in Umbrella, have left the city. On the other hand, those who remain immediately suffer from the symptoms of a strange disease that causes, among other things, baldness, light bleeding from the eyes, and so on.
At the beginning of the examination, we move in time as we get to know Redfield brothersWho lives in an orphanage after losing their parents. Little Claire, walking down the corridors, noticed a strange figure hiding in the shadows – a girl with a very disfigured body. Claire’s brother Chris, thinks his sister has a lot of imagination. Is it just the child’s initial fears or is there something lurking in the darkness? Our heroine will have an answer to this question when she becomes an adult. Claire runs away from her adoptive family and after many years comes to town to explain the truth of what is happening here and to warn her brother.
Really The whole movie is divided into two main axes. The first focuses on Chris Redfield, who is currently in the police force, as well as Jill Valentine, Albert Wesker and Richard Aiken, who received reports of the finding and missing two officers at Villa Spencer, founder of the Umbrella Corporation. The second axis allows us to follow the fate of Claire Redfield, who arrives in town when Leon Kennedy and Brian Arnolds barricaded themselves at the police station, to protect themselves from a swarm of zombies.
Interestingly, The creator of the movie – Johannes Roberts decided to combine the actions of the first and second parts of the game into one movie. This causes a bit of a mess to watch, especially for people who aren’t familiar with the universe. However, loyal fans will love how well the video sticks to the source material, adding only a few entries from time to time. Example – When we started Resident Evil 2, we started on the street in front of the police station, and there was an overturned tanker truck lying behind our backs. In Resident Evil: Hello Raccoon City, you will find out why and how this carrier ended up there. And that’s not the only flavor you’ll get!
All the faces of Raccoon City
When I found out what the staff would look like, I was, in short, a little scared. Leon Kennedy, a charming blonde, was to be performed by an actor of well-known Indian origin, among other things, as Tutankhamun – Avan Jogja. Should I expect Bollywood zombies? Fortunately, I was not discouraged by the fact that not every actor fit my expectations. I decided to give the movie a chance, and I certainly don’t regret it.
Calire (Kaya Scodelario) and Chris (Robbie Amell) are literally out of the game – not only in terms of image, but also in terms of acting. This tandem was really cool to watch. In contrast, Jill (Hannah John Kamen) and Wesker (Tom Hooper) didn’t have much room in the plot, and if they did show up, they usually “thrown meat”. However, it fits perfectly with the role of the powerful cops in the face of the horrors they faced.
Unfortunately, my concerns about Leon himself turned out to be valid. But this is not entirely because the actor was not suitable for the role. After the first minutes of the movie I stopped paying attention to it. Just The book completely ruined his character. In fact, the entire time he appears as a slacker, everyone, but literally everyone, is laughing – even a slightly crazy fan of conspiracy theories sitting behind bars. It’s a pity, you can’t have it all, right?
Climate and climate again
No one has captured the atmosphere of the game presented in the movie so well in a long time, in such a great way as Johannes Roberts! In almost every scene you will find a twinkling for Resident Evil fans. You will see a beautifully reproduced game scene, such as the police station or Spencer’s manor. You will also feel the same emotions as you did in the game when the Licker language suddenly appears with the flashing light. You will learn why this overturned tanker found itself in front of the police station. And I can go on like this here.
The music works well with the entire movie. The special effects are at a satisfactory level – they won’t frustrate you, but they won’t throw you off either. It’s clear to the naked eye that the movie didn’t have a huge budget, but the technical matters were handled well. Although in my opinion, the next stages of Tyrant Mutation were better when it came to showing monsters.
Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City – is it worth going to the movies?
To understand Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, you have to think about it This is a movie for fans. A viewer from the street who goes to the cinema will find that they have come across a very average B-grade horror movie. The visual effects are at an average level, and the plot for those unfamiliar with the game is very chaotic. So some may feel a little disgusted after the examination. Personally, since I’ve played every part of Resident Evil, the only thing that bothered me was that the show didn’t last long. The first 3/4 of the movie is about building the atmosphere, and I’ll repeat it’s amazing, and the last minutes suddenly fly by at super fast speed to finish all the plots. It was enough to extend the show for 30 minutes and it would not be necessary to cut some scenes in this way.
The biggest problem, unfortunately, is the rating of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City. why? Because this film can not be evaluated unequivocally. For some ardent fans of this series, to which I belong, it will probably be the best evidence that a great on-screen modification of the game can be made. For others who only remember the previous parts of Resident with Mila Jovovich, the current version could not be better. That’s why, and for the first time, let me give the movie two ratings – one for audiences and one for street scenes. Decide for yourself which one suits you best.
