It was absolute domination by Iga Świątek! The world ranking leader left no illusions for Claire Liu. For the fifth time this year, the Polish player won with only one defeat in the entire match.

The careers of Iga Šviotec and Claire Liu developed similarly to a point – they both won the Junior Wimbledon Championships. However, now they are in completely different places. The Polish woman is the leader of the rankings and dominates the courts of the world, and Liu is still waiting for her first victory in the WTA competition.

He has faced Leo from Świątek only once so far – on December 29, 2018 in a tournament qualifier in Auckland. Then the Polish woman won in three sets. In Saturday’s game, it was definitely a favourite.

However, Świątek got off to a small false start. Made a double serving error. But then she got on the right track. In the second game – with a score of 15:40, the opponent’s serve – I was able to reverse the competition situation.

In the third match, the Polish player showed action, definitely aspiring to be the best player in the tournament. She defended well, received impossible balls and turned one of them into a point.

The leader of the world rankings was going her own way, and Liu could not answer her in any way. This is evidenced by a series of twelve points scored by Świątek in a row.

It only took 26 minutes for Iga Świątek to finish the set. For the sixth time this season, the Polish woman won for nothing. She showed not only complete dominance, but also a lot of slackness on the field. She was in the third round of the tournament with one leg.

It was hard to find an item where Schuetik wouldn’t overpower her opponent. Some problems arose early in the second set – in the first game, Świątek made as many as two double faults on serve. However, it resulted from the risks taken by the competitor. Even this did not prevent her from winning.

Claire Liu was rewarded by the audience with thunderous applause for … every point she managed to snatch from Poland. However, they didn’t have much chance of doing so. The number of unforced errors I made during the match was shocking.

There was more play in the fourth game of the second set, as Liu saved two break points and also had a chance to win. However, she did not take advantage of her chance and the Polish woman brought the score to 4: 0.

At the last moment, a Chinese American saved herself from leaving the court with a so-called on-court bike (this is slang for the score 6:0, 6:0). I pulled Jewel, even though Świątek already had the match ball.

She completed work on her own order. For the fifth time this season, it won a match, losing only one. Previously, she defeated Kristina Buxa, Danielle Collins, Veronika Kudermatova, and Lyudmila Samsonova in this way.

In the third round of Indian Wells, Iga Świątek will face match winner Peyton Stearns – Bianca Andreescu. In the fourth, Magda Linette could have hit, but the Poznan player was eliminated after losing to Emma Radokan.
