The Offspring team will long remember its Pas-Saint-Laurent trip, as one of its vehicles caught fire Friday night on Highway 20 near Rivière-Ovelle, en route to Rimouski for a show Saturday night.

“The call was made on Friday at 1:37 p.m. to a vehicle on fire on the right shoulder of the highway,” confirmed Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesman Stephane Tremblay.

According to information provided by the team, the Chevrolet Suburban was unable to avoid an automobile part that fell onto the road, damaging the SUV and causing a fire.

In its social media post, the group says that luggage, passports, laptops and almost everything else were destroyed. What was confirmed by SQ.

The organizers also heaved a sigh of relief after hearing this news.

“We have no time to be afraid. We were quickly reassured,” says Marie-Pierre Mercier, media relations manager for Les Grandes Féds Tellus.

Sebastien Tremblay, one of the promoters of the event, was quick to reassure bracelet holders on social media.

“Sick! But posterity will be with us, they will be on fire,” he wrote, sharing a video of the burning truck.
