Rhys Thompson starred in James Cameron’s Titanic when he was five years old. Even though he only appeared in three scenes and said one line, he still made money from it, and royalties are flowing into his account.
1. He starred in a movie as a kid and is still making money today.
Titanic is one of the biggest blockbusters of all time, loved primarily by audiences for its lead roles played by Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.
The film also featured several actors playing cameo roles. Among them was Rhys Thompson, who was five years old at the time. He played an Irish boy who sails across the Atlantic on a ship with his mother and sister. The entire family perishes in a shipwreck.
Although Thompson only appeared in three scenes and only uttered one sentence: “What do we do, Mom?”He still makes money from it today. Although the amounts are not amazing, he does receive a certain amount of money every month.
“I feel weird because I don’t think about the movie every day. I don’t approach it like, ‘Oh, when am I going to get my Titanic check?’ When it comes, I tend to be like, ‘Great, another $100 in my pocket,’” Thompson told Business Insider.
2. He makes money from movies, but he never became an actor.
Thompson admitted that the royalties he initially received for his role in “Titanic” were higher. Years later, the stakes were lower, but he still managed to collect a large sum.
So far, the number has already reached 30 thousand dollars..
Interestingly, for Thompson, cinema was nothing more than an adventure. He never became a professional actor. Now, he works in a completely different industry, dealing with marketing at a ski resort. You can see what he looks like today on his Facebook profile @BoreCure.
