The Central Bureau of Statistics confirmed the preliminary data on Friday, October 13. Inflation is falling. In September, prices rose by 8.2%. Suffice it to remember that in January the price growth rate was 17.2 percent, and the highest level was in February – as much as 18.4 percent. Therefore, single-digit inflation gives hope that prices will finally start to fall.
Such a reading is the effect of, among other things, changes in gas stations. Since September, fuel at Orlean stations has reached levels not seen by drivers in months. This has also been affected by the reduction in electricity rates, which we will all see on our bills by the end of this year.

Such price changes are fun. Economists have been revising their forecasts for several months. According to a survey conducted by the Polish National Bank at the end of September, inflation may fall faster than expected a few months ago. The average annual inflation rate (so-called central forecast) is expected to be 11.9%. Which means that pensions and pensions can only increase by this amount next year. Only because it is less than what the government assumed in the draft 2024 budget. It was planned that interest increases would reach 12.3%.
Pensions 2024. Is this how the minimum pension will increase?
– The lower inflation that we observe may mean that pensions will be indexed at a lower rate – confirms Dr. Anthony Kulik from the Retirement Institute. He points out that although for several months retirees have had to pay more for the products and services they purchased.
If the scenario written by economists comes true, next year the minimum pension would amount to a total of PLN 1,777.46 (i.e. PLN 189.02 more than it currently is). The table shows simulations for other amounts.
The final inflation rate will only be known in January, when the Central Statistical Office will provide inflation data for the whole of 2023. The new government, which will be formed after the elections, will have to decide how and how much to increase in the end.
