Poland’s Central Statistical Office published a few days ago that inflation (as measured by the Consumer Price Index – CPI) rose for the fourth month in a row. Average prices for consumer goods and services rose by 4.2 percent in July. Year-on-year. This slight difference in calculations is due to the different methodology for determining inflation. In short, it is about the composition of the basket of goods and services, the price changes of which are taken into account by the Central Statistical Office and Eurostat. Regardless of their assessment, there is no doubt that the latter publication has a very strong advantage – the HICP index allows you to compare price changes in different countries.
