Recently, Intel Raptor Lake Refresh desktop processors (14th Gen) made their market debut in the form of the Core i9-14900K(F), Core i7-14700K(F), and Core i5-14600K(F). We expect that at the upcoming CES 2024 in Las Vegas, the manufacturer will also showcase more energy-efficient versions of the 14th generation with TDP 35W and 65W, as well as portable versions of the Raptor Lake-HX Refresh. It is possible that the next processor that Intel will display at the show will be the Core i9-14900KS, which has a higher overclocking.
According to the first information, the Intel Core i9-14900KS processor will provide a maximum speed of up to 6.2 GHz. Of course, we are talking about the default settings, without additional OC.

The first traces of the Intel Core i9-14900KS desktop processor have been discovered online. The release of systems from the “KS” series later became a tradition, and as you can see, in the case of the 14th generation Raptor Lake Refresh, it will be retained. The basic configuration will remain unchanged, so it will still be a 24-core, 32-thread (8 P-Core + 16 E-Core) system. The Intel Core i9-14900KS has a higher clock speed in Turbo mode (most likely Intel Thermal Velocity Boost technology, i.e. the highest clock possible in certain conditions), up to 6.2 GHz. The current Core i9-14900K offers a maximum clock speed of 6.0GHz.

The 14th Gen Intel Core i9-14900HX Raptor Lake-HX Refresh mobile processor will also score very highly. The processor was captured in the Acer Predator Helios 18 laptop. The base clock of the performance core is 2.4GHz, but the highest Turbo clock in this case reaches approximately 5.8GHz. We expect these to also be the official specifications of the chip for the laptops. The very high clock allowed nearly 3,000 points in GeekBench’s single-threaded test. Taking into account the history of Intel’s first offerings, we also expect to see the Core i9-14980HX model, which has a chance to reach a clock speed of 6.0 GHz in Intel Thermal Velocity Boost mode.
