The iPhone 14 may look just like its predecessor. However, drastic structural changes made it much easier and therefore cheaper to repair. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the Pro version.
The last Apple smartphone with which the back panel could be replaced without major problems was the 2011 iPhone 4s. In later generations, the whole process was significantly complicated, which wasn’t a big deal as long as the manufacturer used aluminum.
The staircase began in 2017, when the company opted for glass enclosures, a material prone to breakage. In the iPhone 8, X, XS, and 11, the back panel replacement process was so complicated that the manufacturer replaced the entire device as part of a service repair. Of course, the value of this service is estimated at several thousand zlotys.
On the iPhone 12 and 13, the need to replace a broken back was associated with the need to pull all components through the screen. Well, not all of them, because some components were combined with the entire glass part, so you had to pay about 3,000 PLN for its replacement.
iPhone 14 has a completely different design. Glass caps can be replaced without unnecessary complications
Apple through iPhone 14 first release It was not mentioned at all, but soon reports of a redesigned interior appeared. It has been confirmed by the popular iFixit service, which has been preparing guides on repairing Apple equipment for years.
As you can see in the video (from 01:19), the back of the glass can be easily separated from the rest of the structure. Replacing iPhone backs hasn’t been this easy for over a decade.
This is a big change for customers, because broken housing ranks first in the list of the most common mistakes. And repair costs in the Apple service – to put it mildly – are not the lowest.
iPhone 14: Replacing a broken lens just got a lot cheaper. Unfortunately, this does not apply to the Pro version
Everything indicates that Apple has only changed the design of the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus. The 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max versions are said to use the old method of assembling components, which seems to confirm price list Apple’s official website.
The cost of replacing the rear glass – depending on the model – looks like this:
- iPhone 14 – 925 PLN;
- iPhone 14 Plus – PLN 1149;
- iPhone 14 Pro – PLN 2939;
- iPhone 14 Pro Max – PLN 3239.
Let’s confirm that the iPhone 14 and 14 Pro have cases of the same dimensions, made of the same glass. Both models differ only in the method of assembly.
Separating the glass panel from the components has made Apple take three times less money to repair cheaper models.
Of course, PLN 925 for the exchange itself quickly is a cosmic amount, but it is still cheaper for years. In addition, facilitating the repair is likely to reduce its cost in unauthorized services, which Apple would have otherwise He was looking with a more positive eye for a while.
