After two levels of reception, “Star Wars: The Acolyte” series ended with a promising final chapter. Is season 2 enough?
Warning, spoilers. The following paragraphs reveal plot elements from the final episode of “Star Wars: The Acolyte.”
After six weeks of airing on Disney+, The Acolyte ended with the airing of its eighth and final episode. Created and produced by Leslie Hedland (Russian Doll), this new Star Wars series immerses us in the era of the High Republic, during which the Jedi Order reigns supreme and prosperity reigns.
When too many Jedi are killed the balance is upset. Jedi Master Sol (Lee Jung-Jae) investigates and discovers that it’s May, the missing twin sister of his former Padawan Osha (Amandla Stenberg), whom he took under his wing after her home was destroyed by a community of wizards.
He also learns that May was trained by a Sith known as the Jedi Master, Kymir, or the Stranger (Manny Jacinto), a former Jedi who turned to the dark side of the Force for revenge.
The final episode of The Acolyte brought fans many answers and resolutions for most of the characters, but still… many questions remain unanswered and the appearance of two of the main characters of Star Expanded Universe Wars opens the door to yet-to-be-explored intrigue.
Is “Star Wars: The Acolyte” Season 2 Possible?
So is the open ending to the first season of Star Wars: The Acolyte an omen for the second season? Showrunner Leslie Hedland explained Entertainment Weekly She had “Everything is included in Season 1”Further “Who knows what will happen?”.
If she thinks the first season’s resolution is satisfying, she’s still letting slip that she voluntarily intended. “4 or 5 elements and mysteries can only be explained by the second season”.
But Leslye Headland wants to wait for confirmation from Disney and Lucasfilm before starting to formally begin development ideas for other seasons.
“It’s going to be more because I know what needs to happen, and I know what the character development needs to be to hit plot and character points for a second, third or fourth season.”she explained. “So I’m looking forward to working on it, but for now, I’m not.”
It’s true that The Acolyte series isn’t the highest-rated Star Wars fiction, but it can count on the mobilization of fans who started a campaign on social networks to demand that it be renewed with the hashtag #RenewTheAcolyte.
Other fans are looking for Disney and Lucasfilm to consider a second season of The Sidekick, as the user below noted that the official Star Wars X account is preparing fans to watch the “season finale.” A season episode is not a “series finale”, meaning the end of a series.
And the wording used is important because the official Star Wars X account used the same wording for Ahsoka’s finale, and the Rosario Dawson-led series was actually renewed for a second season. Does the fan base pay off?
According to Leslie Hedland, discussions are ongoing at Lucasfilm. “I don’t know when this decision will be made”she said Nerdist. It’s all up to the studio.
Season 1 of “Star Wars: The Acolyte” is available on Disney+.
