It ended for Pierre-Yves McSween at 98.5

98.5 announced in a press release Tuesday that “Pierre-Yves has decided to end its professional relationship with McSween.”

The financial popularizer had a daily column on the radio station’s morning show.

The decision would have followed “a review of the strategic orientations of the event’s content and organization. Now Quebec», according to a press release issued by Cogeco Média.

Termination of the columnist’s contract would also have occurred “in the context of an amicable agreement”.

Pierre-Yves McSween shared the press release on his Facebook account on Tuesday, adding some personal comments and not giving further details about the circumstances of his departure.

He mentions that he wants to focus on his other projects “by keeping the communication channel open[il a] I got a chance to grow with the public.

The columnist also takes the opportunity to wish “success” to all his colleagues at the station.


Last April, star columnist MC Gilles was also fired from Gogeco Media.

As suggested by the columnist in the Facebook post, the return of host Patrick Lagasse will be due to conflict within the show’s team.

“This is not my decision,” he wrote, adding that he could not elaborate on “why and how.”

Host Patrick Lagasse will replace Paul Arcand at the start of the 2024 school year at the Montreal radio station’s morning show.

Paul Arcand did not renew his contract and hosted his last morning show in June.
