Jessica Chastain makes a stylish entrance to the Marrakech International Film Festival. The head of the jury for this twentieth edition graced the red carpet in a classy gray lined jumpsuit, cinched at the waist, pant split at the ankles, and elegant scandals with glittering platforms. The main element of her outfit was an ultra-original cape, made of thousands of pearls of all sizes, which surrounded the American actress from head to toe.
Hair styled in a ponytail, smoky eyes and lips plumped with deep pink lip ink, Jessica Chastain was particularly impressive during her commencement speech. The president of the jury called for more involvement in the world of cinema, because “cinema can influence behavior by first breaking down barriers and starting important conversations on racial justice, gender inequality and other important cultural issues.”
“Right now, all over the world, we need art that speaks truth to power and empowers us all,” said the Oscar-winning actress, lamenting that “the world we share is broken and divided.”
A solid actress
Jessica Chastain won her first statuette at the 2022 Oscars for her performance in Michael Showalter’s “In the Eyes of Tommy Fey.” A reward for an already long and successful life. After all, the American actress has never been afraid to say what she thinks about the Hollywood system in particular, its lack of diversity and the unrealistic female roles it offers.
Organized under the patronage of King Mohammed VI, this new edition of the Marrakech festival will offer a wide range of productions with 75 films from 36 countries. The jury will announce its prize list at the closing ceremony of the ceremony scheduled for Saturday, December 2, 2023.
