Stefan Kraft leads after the first round of the opening individual competition of the 2024 Summer Grand Prix at Tremplin-de-Praz (HS132) in Courchevel. Austria’s representative is in the lead after a jump of 126.5m. Jakub Wollny is 10th (114.5m). Four Poles have qualified for the final.
Due to the length of the women’s competition, the men’s competition started on Tuesday in Courchevel with a 40-minute delay. During the competition, the competitors had to deal with variable and sometimes very strong winds and a rainstorm.
In the first series, Stefan Kraft lost his rivals. The three-time Crystal Globe winner climbed to 126.5m and at the halfway point of the competition was 6.2 points ahead of Naoki Nakamura (127.5m). Third place went to Alex Insam (119.5m) ahead of Valentin Faubert (127.5m), Junichiro Kobayashi (125.5m) and Kilian Pierre (130m).
Keiichi Sato (119m) took seventh place. Eighth place went to Jan Hoerl (111.5m), ninth to Manuel Wittner (122m), and tenth to the best Polish representative, Jakub Wollny (112m).
12th place Dawid Kubacki (112m), 16th place Kacper Juroszek (116.5m) and 20th place Alexander Zniszczul (106.5m) also qualified for the final.
Paweł Wąsek has completed his participation in the first series of competitions. The 24-year-old achieved a distance of 106.5 metres in his attempt and was then disqualified for wearing incorrect underwear.
Andrew Orlup suffered a serious fall. However, the American left the Tremplin du Praz hill on his own. Slovenian Maksim Bartoli also continued his attempt.
The first competition series was played from the starting beam 20, 18, 17, 16 and 15.
