A PLL LOT aircraft flying from Warsaw to the United States had to turn around and land at Chopin Airport. “After receiving a signal about a possible threat on board, the captain, in accordance with the procedure, decided to return to Warsaw Airport,” the LOT press office said.

RMF FM radio reported that the reason for the reversal was information about the presence of dangerous materials on board the plane. The station was the first to report the reversed flight.

The statement added that “the plane landed and appropriate activities were initiated by airport and state services.”

No details were provided about the nature of this potential threat.

As it turns out, the incident involved Sunday’s LO11 flight from Warsaw to Newark.

The flight has been cancelled. The carrier announced that passengers will be rebooked for other connections.
