Hurkacz started the struggle in the Spanish capital from the second round and from the very beginning treated the crowd with genuine horror. After a dramatic 3-set battle, he defeated Wroclaw native Richard Gasquet. His next opponent will be Coric, ranked 20th in the ATP. The Croatian beat Hugo Gaston 6-3 6-3 in the previous round.

Hurkacz’s clay court record this year is 8-5. The Pole has won 81.5% of his matches on serve and 23.7% on the return. He took advantage of 35.7% of his chances of breaking (41 out of 115).
Last year, Hurkacz reached the quarter-finals of the tournament. There, however, he had to admit the superiority of Novak Djokovic 3: 6, 4: 6.
