Manchester City – Tottenham. Crazy advice. Tottenham snatched the win

Before the match, Manchester City was clearly topping the standings. The citizens got 63 points in their tally, six points behind Liverpool. Most importantly, they can boast of an impressive streak, because their last defeat was in December, losing to RB Leipzig in the Champions League. In the Premier League, the last time they left the field they lost at the end of October. The vanquished was then Crystal Palace.

Tottenham Hotspur’s performance has been below expectations so far. The Roosters finished only eighth with 36 points. And they were losing six points to Arsenal, who were in the last place to be promoted to the cups. Spurs’ recent matches have been very poor, recording a streak of three defeats in a row.

We did not have to wait long to get the first goal in this match, because in the fourth minute Heung Min Son played Dean Kulusevsky, who unexpectedly led the guests to the lead in this match. The hosts did not intend to wait and attacked almost immediately.

In the 21st minute, Ilkay Gundogan had a chance, but after his shot the ball bounced off the post. The old saying goes that what is late does not run away. So it was this time. In the 33rd minute, Gundogan found himself in the penalty area again with the ball, this time hitting the net. In the first half, there were no more positive situations and until the first half it was a 1-1 draw.

The hosts definitely won in the first half and created a lot of goalkeeper positions for themselves. This did not translate into the result, neither before the break nor immediately after it. In the 59th minute, Cogoti was in the lead again. Son Harry found Kane with a good pass, and this guy got into the list of shooters with a shot out the window.

Interestingly enough, as calculated by the “MisterChip” file, Son and Kane helped each other 36 times. An Englishman did it 17 times and a Korean 19 times. In doing so, they have achieved a Premier League record so far that belongs to Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard.

The citizens once again found themselves in a difficult situation and attacked again. Once again, Guendogan had a great chance in this match, but this time the opponents’ goalkeeper stood at the post. Unexpectedly, the guests bumped into the net again. In the 73rd minute, Kane enjoyed the goal, but after analyzing the VAR, the referee saw offside and pulled the goal.

The result seemed unchanged for a long time, although Manchester City tried to attack. The situation changed completely in the 90th minute. Then Gabriel Romero touched the ball with his hand in his team’s penalty area and after analyzing the referee awarded a penalty kick to the hosts. Riyad Mahrez approached the ball and hit the match with a confident shot.

The 2:2 draw did not completely satisfy both teams. City certainly prevailed and created more advantageous goal positions. Tottenham, in turn, advanced twice and lost twice. As it turned out, this was not the end of the shooting. In the fifth minute of extra time, Kulesevsky hit another shot inside the penalty area. There was Kane who came close to scoring 3-2 for the visitors.

City are still in the lead after the defeat, but Liverpool will have the opportunity to cut the loss to three points. Tottenham, in turn, climbed to seventh place and also lost three “eyes” to the position that gives them promotion to the cups. In the next round, the Citizens will play Everton, and the Roosters will play Burnley.

Manchester City – Tottenham Hotspur 2:3 (1:1)

Objectives: Ilkay Gundogan (33), Riyad Mahrez (90 + double) – Diane Kulusevsky (4), Harry Kane (59, 90 +5)
