Manor Lords – a brilliant premiere of the Polish strategy game. A combination of the famous Fortress series and Total War series

The most anticipated game on Steam, which was added to wishlists by over 3 million people before its release, debuted yesterday (April 26, 2024). The production, mainly responsible for one man, Grzegorz Styczenie, has had a truly impressive success – and is still in Early Access. The title is proof that games made with passion make more sense today (and always have).

Polish-made Manor Lords debuted in Early Access and can already be considered one of the best games of 2024. The title introduces the player to the Middle Ages, where he, as a ruler, must manage his land.

Manor Lords has been created for over 4 years by the aforementioned mogul, who founded the Slavic Magic studio (the name comes from a certain meme that can be seen at the end of this material). His goal was to design a strategy game set in the Middle Ages. The author tried to reproduce the historical facts of those years as faithfully as possible, which, it must be admitted, he ultimately succeeded in achieving. The production will allow us to play the role of a ruler whose task will be to build a city, manage it properly and fight battles. The whole thing has actually been done to a very high standard. The highest number of players who played the game at the same time on Steam is over 170,000, so we're talking about a really good result.

At the time of writing this material, up to 90% of players rated the title positively. Comments point out, for example, that the actual gameplay matches previously published videos, which doesn't happen very often these days. Manor Lords is further proof that you don't need huge financial outlays to create successful games. Although the game was not created entirely by one person, the funds required to create it came largely from a Patreon fundraiser.
