Marcin Gortat has already finished his sports career, but he is still present in the NBA environment. The former center once again organized the Polish Night. Jeremy Suchan traveled to Washington, but did not appear in court.

Marcin Gortat is no longer an active basketball player, but he still does a lot for Poland abroad. This initiative must be appreciated.

The 39-year-old from Lodz once again organized an event called “Polish Heritage Night” or simply “Polish Night in the NBA”.

It is an annual event organized in the United States, on Gortat’s initiative, with the goal of bringing American citizens closer to Polish culture and to honor the Polish Army. “Out of respect to the Polish soldiers,” Gortat wrote on Facebook, and attached the photos.

This time, the Polish night was held during the Washington Wizards – San Antonio Spurs match. Originally, Jeremy Sochan, who represents the white and red, was supposed to play in this meeting, but the 19-year-old had knee problems and had to stop.

Nevertheless, the winger appeared in Washington and met fans. The famous football player Mateusz Klitsch was also present.

“Today, in the American capital, the Polish Heritage Night during the NBA Wizards – Spurs match, organized by Marcin Gortat. During the breaks, our history and culture will be presented. Fans will watch many videos, which also show support for Ukraine, ”wrote an RMF radio correspondent FM on Twitter. In the United States, Pawe Żuchowski.

The President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, also addressed the fans in attendance at the Capital One Arena via a private recording.

As for the match itself, the Wizards beat the Spurs 136-124 and broke a losing streak of four consecutive matches. Corey Kisbert scored a career-high 26 points on six three-pointers. Israeli Denny Avdija scored 21 points and grabbed 11 rebounds

“I think it was a great team effort,” Wes Anseld Jr., coach of the team from the US capital, admitted in an interview with the media. “Cory had a record evening, the substitutes gave something extra and it was great to watch.”

Before the match, Soshan said that his knee hurts but will not require surgery. – I just have to check every day what’s going on. But it’s nothing serious – the 19-year-old reassured in his NBA debut as the Spurs, with a 19-55 record, occupy the penultimate 14th place in the Western Conference.
