Marek Babszon will leave Raków Częstochowa after the season. As it turns out, the Polish coach is on the radar of Israeli giants, Maccabi Haifa, reports TVP Sport’s Piotr Kamenecki.
After seven years, Marek Babszon’s adventure ends in Raków Częstochowa. The 48-year-old has decided to leave after a season he hopes will be crowned by winning the national championship and cup.
The esteemed Polish coach is likely to take a break after intense years of work, focusing on rest and family. At least that’s the promise he made to his wife, as he stated over and over again.
As it turns out, the 48-year-old’s remarkable work in Czestochowa has also been noticed abroad, more specifically in Israel. TVP Sport’s Piotr Kamieniecki tells the local league giant is keenly interested in hiring Papszun.
Maccabi Haifa is looking for a new coach after Barak Bahar announced his departure after the current season. The 14-time national champions are currently in first place in Liga Halle, four points ahead of second-placed Hapoel Beersheba. If the “greens” maintain their superiority, they will take part in the Champions League playoffs.
Thus, the goal of the club based at the Sami Ofer stadium for the next season is to reach the group stage of the prestigious European Cup and succeed at home. For this, the Haifa team needs the right coach.
Giant representatives from Israel are watching several candidates. Papszun will be at the top of the wish list.
A Polish coach on the Mediterranean coast can count on a huge raise. The annual budget of the current leader of Ligat ha’Al is estimated at PLN 100 million.
