What do we know about the movie “God’s Own Country”?

Igor Abramenko will direct “God’s Country” based on a script by Will Sudek (“Westworld”). SAG-AFTRA gave the creatives the green light. Filming will take place in Romania and is scheduled to begin in March next year. Maria Bakalova will play a young woman who goes to Kentucky to meet her fiancé. She soon makes a shocking discovery and her American dream turns into a terrifying nightmare.

Maria Bakalova is a Bulgarian-born actress. She gained international fame for her role alongside Sacha Baron Cohen in “The Borat Movie,” where she played the main character’s daughter. This performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. We can also see her in the pandemic comedy film “Bubble,” the horror film “Bodies Bodies Bodies,” and the third part of “Guardians of the Galaxy.” Among the upcoming projects with her participation is the drama “Fairyland,” produced by Sofia Coppola, adapted from the book by Alicia Abbott. “Rainbow San Francisco.” Memories of My Father premiered at the Sundance Film Festival this year.
