Melissa Webb is convicted of the unpredictable murder of David Frigan in the fall of 2019 at a drug store in the Saint-Sauville district of Quebec.
The arbitral tribunal handed down its verdict Wednesday evening after a day of deliberations before Judge Franசois Hood in Quebec City Court.
After 8 p.m., several relatives of the 26-year-old woman appeared in court when the word “guilty” was spoken. The victim died at the age of 42.
The arbitral tribunal, which heard the evidence, had four judgments. Seven women and five men had to choose between a second homicide convict, a homicide convict, a convicted felon or a convicted felon.
Eleven days of interrogation is required during the trial of a 26-year-old young woman. Melissa Webb will be brought back to court tomorrow morning for sentencing observations.
Anyone convicted of first-degree murder or second-degree murder should be sentenced to life imprisonment.
10 to 25 years old
In the case of first degree murder, the pre-qualification period for parole is fixed at 25 years. In a second-degree murder case, as in this case, the period can be anywhere from 10 to 25 years.
Security has already indicated that it does not see any bad circumstances justifying a period of more than 10 years. The crime was filed on September 30, 2019 at Napoleon for Rs 609.
Defense attorney Ms Sebastian Saint-Laurent said her client, Melissa Webb, committed an illegal act, meaning she “exposed a knife”, but she never wanted to give the victim a blow.
At the inquest, the forensic pathologist confirmed that the injury that caused the victim’s death was on the left side of the abdomen. The injury was caused by a “pin and sharp” object embedded in the body to a length of 8.5 cm.
One foot is dangerous, according to the expert.
