Messier 99 as an amazing ESO.  The galaxy is amazing

ESO has released a stunning image of a spiral galaxy called 99Which we also know as Coma Pinwheel, NGC 4254, IRAS 12162 + 1441 or LEDA 39578. About 42 million light years from us In Warkocz Bereniki in the northern sky.

The object was captured using ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array) and ESO’s Large Very Large Telescope (VLT). The end result is really impressive and shows us among other things the large spiral arms of the Messier 99 galaxy, which has a diameter of about 80 thousand. light years. For comparison, in the case of Milky Way It was about 105.7 thousand. light years.

Messier 99 was discovered along with its neighbors Messier 98 and Messier 100 by French astronomer Pierre Méchain on March 15, 1781. The galaxy contains a moving core and unequal spiral arms, one of which is dominant. Such opinions are rare.
