Although Iga Świątek started the duel with Karolina Muchova on Thursday in the late afternoon Polish time, she only finished it the next day. The reason is the outages caused by the heavy rains that hit Montreal. Fortunately, despite the “torn” game, the best tennis player in the world turned out to be the best, beating the Czechs in three sets: 6: 1, 4: 6, 6: 4. Thus, the Polish woman ensured her retention at the head of the leader Professional Tennis Players Association.

American Danielle Collins will be Shviutek’s opponent on her way to the semi-finals. The 29-year-old defeated the representative of the host – Leila Fernandez in just over 80 minutes in the 1/8 finals. Collins won convincingly in sets 6-2 6-3 and will face the world leader on Friday. This will be the fourth meeting in history for both players. Schwietek won two duels. Once upon a time, an experienced American was at the top. The organizers set the confrontation of both players to be the third match on Friday at the central stadium.
