MMA fighter Cole Young is used to punching for the money. However, he has no idea of his origins and does not know why the ruler of the underworld Shang Tsung sent his best warrior, Sub-Zero, a cryogenic leg from another dimension to hunt him down. Fearing for his family’s safety, Cole goes in search of Sonya Blade, who had been recommended by Jax. This special forces major has the same bizarre dragon-shaped birthmark Cole was born with. Soon, Young finds himself in the temple of Lord Raiden, one of the Elder Gods and protector of the Earth, who gives shelter to those who bear the mark of the Dragon. At the temple, Cole trains with experienced warriors Liu Kang and Kung Lao, and mercenary Kano. Together, they will battle Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against opponents from the Underworld, where the universe is at stake. But will Cole be able to unlock his secrets – the immeasurable power within a soul – and not only save his loved ones, but also stop the underworld once and for all?
