NASA announces plans to build a second lunar lander

NASA plans to return humans to the moon in 2025. We know that on the first manned mission to the surface of the Silver Globe, a special spacecraft will be delivered. SpaceX received for this purpose Contract worth $2.9 billion (about 12.45 billion PLN). Now the agency has announced Planning to build a second landing craft.

NASA initially wanted to choose two landing designs for the Artemis mission. However, for budgetary reasons, I originally decided to entrust the contract only to SpaceX. Moreover, with the big Blue Origin’s Resentment Jeff Bezos. In the end, it will enable the agency to build a second machine of this type.

However, it is not supposed to compete directly with SpaceX. Here, plans remain unchanged and the Starship will be the first lander to allow humans to return to the Moon (as part of the Artemis III mission). The latter will eventually be used in future missions on the Silver Globe. NASA wants it Ready for use at the earliest in 2026 or 2027.

NASA asked Congress for $3.4 billion to build a lunar lander in the 2021 budget. (about PLN 14.57 billion), but then only got 25 percent. This amount. At the moment, we do not know what money will be allocated to this project, but it should be included in the agency’s budget for 2023.
