UFC legends Nate Diaz, Tony Ferguson and the organization’s wolf cubs Khamzat Chimaev and Kevin Holland will face off at UFC 279 tomorrow at UFC 279 in Las Vegas.
The UFC managed to achieve the impossible just a few hours before UFC 279 by changing the layout of the three main battles of Saturday’s event. As announced by UFC President Dana White, tomorrow fans will see Nate Diaz vs. Tony Ferguson, Kevin Holland vs. Khams Shimaev and Lee Jingliang vs. Daniel Rodriguez. The changes were made to the card due to Khams Shimayev who lost over 7 pounds in the welterweight division prior to the Diaz fight and was prevented from dropping any additional weight on the advice of doctors.

Both duels, Diaz vs. Ferguson and Holland vs. Shemayev, will take place over five rounds.

UFC 279 will take place on September 10 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. In the fight of the night, there will be a welterweight fight between Nat Diaz and Tony Ferguson.

Nate Diaz (20-13 MMA) hasn’t been seen in the Octagon since last June. At UFC 263, he was lost by the judges unanimously to Leon Edwards, the current UFC welterweight champion. The California player broke his opponent at the end of the fifth round but there was not enough time to finish Rocky. Diaz has been calling the final fight in the UFC for a long time. The Stocktonian does not have the best relations with the American organization and wants to change employers.
Ferguson (MMA 25-7) hasn’t had the best streak lately. El Cocoy has lost the last four matches. He was brutally knocked out by Michael Chandler during UFC 274 in May. Prior to the losing streak, Ferguson was undefeated in 12 matches. The fighter was famous for his exciting fighting style, brutally smashing his opponents. In October 2017, he was awarded a temporary light splitting belt, which was later taken away from him. The competitor from California received a reward from the organization 11 times for his performance. 20 victories out of 25 achieved by ending opponents ahead of schedule. Ferguson is ranked 11th in the UFC lightweight category rankings. El Cocoy has competed in welterweight in the past.
Khamzat Chimaev (11-0 MMA) last fought in April of this year at UFC 273. He then defeated former UFC Champion Gilbert Burns after an impressive fight by unanimous decision of the judges. Borz broke into the UFC, winning five matches, including three in just two months, breaking UFC records. He is currently ranked 3rd in the UFC welterweight category rankings.
The Netherlands (23-7, 1NC, UFC 10-4, 1NC) won the last two early matches. The American won the confrontations with Alex Oliveira and Tim Maines. The athlete from Texas achieved five victories in 2020. A year later, in clashes with the leaders of the middle division, his flaws in wrestling were revealed, in which he lost two fights. Holland has been fighting in the UFC since 2018. In that time, he faced opponents like Thiago Santos, Marvin Vittori or Ronaldo Sousa. UFC awarded Holland five times for his performance. He scored 19 out of 23 victories by ending his opponents early.
