Netflix systematically adds a variety of products to its offering, but from time to time stories appear on the list that garner praise from many viewers. Archive 81 was one of these titles, but according to the latest information – the series will not return with the second season.
“Archive 81 is undoubtedly a consistent serial element. The multi-threaded storyline and great musical setting can pull you into this story, even if it definitely lacks originality” – With these words Dawid summed up the production review that praised, among other things, the story, the unsettling atmosphere, or the good fun with embellishments known from horror films.
As it turns out, Netflix had to abandon development for the second season of Archive 81. The information was provided by the deadline site, according to which the company does not intend to develop a new date, including IP.
Journalists assert that this is a surprising situation, because “Archives 81” broke into the top 10 of Nielsen’s weekly charts and was for a while the most popular Netflix title in the United States. The series received 73% (Metacritic) reviews and 86% of critics recommended the story (Rottentomatoes).
Where did the problem arise in this case? The deadline indicates that Netflix is still studying CPV and It seems that Archive 81 did not reach enough viewers for the company to invest in the development of the second season.
This isn’t the first time Netflix has left a well-received show because it didn’t achieve its goals.
