Pursuant to the law on minimum wages for work, if the total expected consumer price index for the next year is at least 105 percent, two dates are set for changing the amount of the minimum wage and the amount of the minimum hourly wage: from January 1 and from July 1.
As of January 2023, the minimum wage has increased to a total of PLN 3,490, and as of July 1, it is PLN 3,600. At the same time, the minimum hourly rates increased from January 1 to PLN 22.80 and from July 1 to PLN 23.50.

According to estimates by the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, from July 2023 the minimum wage will be 19.6 percent higher. compared to the minimum wage that was in force in 2022. Conversely, compared to 2015, the minimum wage increased by 105.7 percent. In 2015, it amounted to PLN 1,750.
The Ministry affirms that the minimum wage plays a major role in reducing poverty and reducing income disparities, and also protects employees from working at lower rates.

From July, besides the minimum wage, other benefits calculated on the basis of it will also increase, including night work allowance, downtime bonus and severance pay for mass layoffs.

On June 13, the Cabinet adopted proposals on a minimum wage for work and a minimum hourly wage, which will be implemented in 2024. It was proposed that the minimum salary from January would be PLN 4,242 gross, and from July it would increase to a total of PLN 4,300. According to the proposal, the minimum hourly rate for some civil law contracts will rise from January 1 to PLN 27.70, and from July 1 to PLN 28.10.
Now the proposal for a minimum wage in 2024 will be dealt with by the Council for Social Dialogue. If representatives of employees, employers and the government do not agree on a common position, the government will set the minimum wage by means of a Cabinet regulation, which will be announced by September 15 in the Laws Journal.
