The Newcastle authorities have big plans for the coming years. However, for now, they need to strengthen the squad to keep them in the Premier League. According to Fabrizio Romano, the priority for the Magpie at the moment is to bring in new defenders.
Recently, the Newcastle team was taken over by new owners – sheikhs from Saudi Arabia. They intend to inject a lot of money into the team so that it can compete with the best in the country and Europe.
The first reinforcements will come in the winter. At the moment, the primary objective is certainly less ambitious – to continue in the Premier League, because the “magpies” are currently in the relegation zone.
As Fabrizio Romano reported, strengthening the defense is the priority at the moment. Newcastle have lost 41 goals so far in Premier League matches, which is by far the biggest share.
A stopwatch or even two new clocks can be added to the team. The club is also looking for a player on the right side of the defence. However, in the case of the latter, no specific names are available yet.
Sven Putman can play in central defense. The Dutch is the first candidate. “Magpie” are just waiting for the evaluation of Lille, which is ready to sell the player in the winter.
The Premier League team will have to compete with Milan, who are also keeping an eye on this player. In the summer, Sevilla, Wolverhampton and Atalanta Bergamo held talks over the deal.
