The esteemed editor of the famous French-American magazine “Courrier French” passed away, and the editorial team gathered to write an obituary. Journalists’ memoirs consist of four novels, and in them there are many stories describing shady neighborhoods in the French city, a biography of a mad painter or a love story about a student rebellion. The film was nominated for Golden Globe and BAFTA Awards.

An awesome cast that barely fits a movie poster – Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Timothée Chalamet, Tilda Swinton, Adrien Brody, Bencio del Toro, Owen Wilson and more.

Botticelli, Florence and Medici – Document now available

A full-length documentary dedicated to one of the greatest geniuses of the Renaissance, Sandro Botticelli, and to Florence, the city in which he worked. Marco Pianigiani’s film is an opportunity to expand your knowledge about Botticelli, his work and of course about the times he created. The Italian Renaissance is considered one of the most important and prolific periods of European art and civilization development. Botticelli’s work was created in the cradle of the Renaissance in Florence, a city that at that time owed much to the powerful Medici family. Thanks to their generosity, Botticelli, who may not have been a great innovator in painting, was able to focus on two passions – showing female beauty and religious themes on canvas.

“We Need to Talk About Cosby” – Series, Available Now

Nominated for this year’s Emmy Awards, it is a documentary about one of the most controversial artists in entertainment history. Bill Cosby – a sexual predator who, over the decades of his career, repeatedly slept and raped the women he worked with. For decades, he was also the idol of millions of Americans, who saw in him the exemplary father of the family, the master of family entertainment, the funny stand-up player and one of the best examples of the potential success of a black artist. Cosby, as a stage and screen character, was an example of tact and good manners. At the same time, for decades, individual accusations of his inappropriate or even punishable behavior were immediately silenced. Only thanks to an article in Vanity Fair in 2014 (nearly half a century after the first cases of his shameful behavior) did it get raucous. The trial began three years later, the year Cosby turned 80. Here is a series that attempts to understand and describe Bill Cosby’s place today in American cultural history.

“Memoria” – movie, premiering on August 26

One of the most interesting films from last year’s Cannes Film Festival (Jury Prize winner) is the story of Jessica traveling to Bogota to visit her sister. However, she has a big problem – mysterious noises haunt her. A metal explosion accompanies her on her way and surprises at the strangest moments. The entire journey soon becomes an almost hypnotic and transcendent experience that the audience also shares. The work of the Bangkok-born director Apichatpong Werasethakul (“Tomb of Wonders”, “Uncle Ponmi, who can remember his previous incarnations”), apart from an interesting structure and atmosphere, has another unique feature – the interesting creativity of Tilda Swinton (“Michael Clayton”, “We Need to talk about Kevin”, “Only Lovers Will Survive”, “Doctor Strange”) as Jessica. The entire film is suspenseful and fascinating thanks to two pillars – the charming role of Swinton and the terrifying mystery of noise.

“Spanish Romance” – movie, premiering on August 28

The latest film by four-time Oscar winner, Woody Allen, this time takes us to…a film festival. The comedy takes place at a festival in San Sebastian, where an American couple appears. She comes in as a PR personality for a promising young director and quickly succumbs to the charms of an eccentric artist. Seeing his wife’s actions, he develops a close acquaintance with a local doctor. Is the crisis in the relationship they will experience there caused by working in the film industry or contact with another European culture? As usual with Allen, it will be sharp, fun and romantic. The Rifkins are played by Wallace Shawn (“Bride to the Prince”, “Curse of the Scorpion”, “Marriage Story”, “Young Sheldon” series) and Gina Gershaw (“Dirty Money”, “Anonymous”, “Showgirls”, “PS I Love You”) ).

The movie “Lamb” is now available

An intimate Icelandic drama with fantasy elements, which last year was an Academy Award-nominated Icelandic, won Cannes and became the highest-grossing film in the history of Icelandic cinematography. Lamb is the story of a childless couple who live on a remote farm and raise sheep. Their lives change dramatically when one night an unusual creature is born in the pen. The situation is further complicated by the sudden visit of the protagonist’s brother, a problematic artist.

In this directorial debut, Vadimir Johansson, an Icelandic who has so far worked in Hollywood as a special effects specialist (Rogue One, Star Wars Stories, War for Tomorrow) stars Nomi Rapas (The Millennium Trilogy, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows) and Helmer Snare Gudnason ( “Midnight Weddings”, “101 Reykjavik”, “The Laughter of the Seagulls”).

“Boss of the Year” – premiere on August 21

A Spanish comedy that conquered cinemas around the world and last year won as many as six of the most important Spanish GOYA Film Awards, including Best Film. She was also a Spanish Academy Award nominee. The story of a family factory owner who wants to win the Best Local Company award at any cost. So he tries to make his business run smoothly and, as usual, almost everything (and everyone) conspires against him. “Boss of the Year” is a great comedy for the characters and a strong social satire on modern ethics in the work environment.

The film’s great strength is the Academy Award winner and seven GOYA Award winners (including “President of the Year”), Javier Bardem (“Skyfall”, “This Is Not a Country for Old People”, “Towards the Sea”), who plays the accompanying title role, Among others are Fernando Albizu (“Fatty”, “Labyrinth of the Faun”), Manolo Solo (“Divine”, “Old Sins Have Long Shadows”) and upcoming Spanish actress Aludena Amor, who was also honored for this film with a nomination for GOYA Awards. .
