No dancing and masking at Bell Center: Shocked bar owners

The first big event at the Bell Center on Saturday was that not all health rules are always respected by the public, shocking some owners of licensed companies who have long wanted to give their customers more freedom.

During Saturday’s Ricky Martin and Enrique Iglesias show, many spectators were involved in dancing, singing and removing masks.

Meanwhile, bars, clubs and nightclubs have been suffocating for months because dancing is banned, masks are mandatory and their effectiveness is limited to 50%.

Health Minister Christian Dube, who was questioned on the matter, announced that the Bell Center should tighten measures and ensure implementation. “If the health condition improves, relief will be available,” he said while visiting the Outus region on Tuesday.

Montreal mayoral candidate Denise Goderre, for her part, believes more honesty is needed.

“I want restaurants to do the same. If we can increase the capacity of concerts, restaurants deserve it, but all of this has to be done responsibly,” he told a news conference.

However, the latter is not misunderstood by the health rules that are not always respected at the Bell Center.

“You have to be responsible. I imagine the people who were there were double-vaccinated anyway. It must mean something. I imagine if everyone was vaccinated, there would be fewer problems, but this kind of question should be answered by the authorities,” Mr Goderre said.
