50 seconds shocked Norway. The thief left with a “scream”
Although it was one of the most famous thefts, the “scream” disappeared in silence. When he was taken out of the museum, security did not run away in panic. The thieves left a message that was noticed by one of the women and reported to a Norwegian newspaper. At that time, there was something else going on – the Winter Olympics had just started in Lillehammer. – It was one of the most interesting cases of my career – Lev A. The second half of the seventies. School trip goes to the Norwegian National Gallery. Among the students, a young child looks in amazement at the painting “The Scream” by Edvard Munch.
This is the artist's most famous work. It was created in four versions made using different drawing techniques.
“The Scream” is one of the most popular paintings in the world, along with paintings such as “Mona Lisa” by Leonardo da Vinci or “Sunflowers” by Vincent Van Gogh. It is considered one of the masterpieces of expressionism.
Munch painted the first of four versions of the painting in 1893. Each version was painted in a different technique. The entire series was dedicated to death, fear and love, and the painter called it the “Frieze of Life”.
According to critics, the painting shows a modern man riddled with existential pain.
“I was walking along the road with two of my friends – and the sun was about to set – and suddenly the sky was filled with blood red – I stopped, feeling exhausted, and leaned on the railing – above the black and blue fjord I could see blood and gore. Tongues of fire; – Continue My walking friends and I “stood there and shook with emotion – I felt an endless scream flowing through nature,” Munch is said to have explained the circumstances and inspiration for creating this work.

For the boy, what he saw in the painting reminded him of his relationship with his stepfather. An idea came to his mind: It would be nice to have this painting at home.
