Tackling social issues, giving listeners a platform and demystifying subjects that affect the middle class: these are some of the pillars that define Isabelle Marechal’s morning show, which will air on QUB Radio on 99.5 FM from August 26.
With an enviable background in radio, the former presenter at 98.5 FM was a logical choice to run the mid-morning show and succeed Mario Dumont in this revamped schedule. He fulfilled the same mandate, taking the torch from Paul Arcand every morning from 2004 to 2021, Monday through Friday, at the microphone of Gogeco Media.

“I’m very happy, happy, happy to be back in the FM band,” he says in a phone interview. “I find it very exciting and inspiring. What I always like about my mid-morning slot is that I have free reign. I always appreciate this freedom from the radio medium, but also from this time slot. People are a little more quiet, a little more long, a little more in-depth interviews. They are ready to listen.
Find the public
Isabelle Marechal is also impatient with the idea of connecting directly with the public. Since the pandemic, although he has collaborated as a columnist on QUB and produced several documentary series, he has had the opportunity to chat with his listeners “in the grocery aisles or on the street.”
“The conversation with the public, I’m glad to be able to get that back,” he continues. “I can stand on stage. People can call me and tell me [sont en désaccord] As one of my guests said. It is necessary. Not so much in the media industry at the moment. There seems to be no room for subtlety.
Experienced team
To help her audience gain a deeper understanding of current issues, Isabelle Marechal surrounds herself with collaborators well-versed in their respective contexts. Among these, Luc Lavoie will write a political essay and Jacques Nantel, his former professor at HEC, will talk about marketing, retailing and consumption. “Girl of the Tank”, she also joined Antoine Joubert in the automobile columns, Tuesdays and Fridays. Other experts are added to the team from time to time.
“My show is going to be very focused on social issues, human testimonies and everything that affects people’s wallets,” he explains. “I did a lot [projets portant sur] The middle class, because it’s the silent majority that we forget.”
Fall is sure to be busy for those celebrating their 40th soone The anniversary of his debut in the profession. In addition to this new big project, he will continue his contribution to Mario Dumont’s show and work with Julie Marcoux. TVA News Noon.
“The goal or driving force that has motivated me over the years is to communicate while entertaining,” he concludes. “I think there’s a way to create information that isn’t flat.”
