The Napoli players won the Italian title on Thursday, but celebrated the title at home on Sunday. They won 1-0 against Fiorentina thanks to a Victor Osimhen goal. The Nigerian missed a penalty kick, but did not miss the second time from eleven metres.
The “Azzurri” had to wait more than 30 years for the Scudetto. The equalizer in the first leg with Udinese set Napoli off to a grand celebration. The climax would be Sunday’s home game against Fiorentina.
At first, “Viola” had the advantage in the opponents’ area, and Luka Jović missed two great chances to score a goal. The Serbian striker came face to face with Pierluigi Golini, but each time the Napoli goalkeeper got better.
The hosts responded only in the 33rd minute. Then Terraciano dealt with Di Lorenzo’s shot. Luciano Spalletti wasn’t too happy with his team’s performance in the first 45 minutes. The changes were the proof – Chwicza Kwaracchelia and Piotr Zieliński both appeared on the field.
The changes soon bore fruit. At the beginning of the second half, another substitute, Stanislav Lobotka, was awarded a penalty. However, Victor Osimhen made a mistake from 11 meters – his shot and the rebound were parried by the Fiorentina goalkeeper.
Soufiane Amrabat tried to answer that question, but once again Golini was in the position. On the other side of the field, Osimhen was close to happy. The Nigerian lobbed Terraciano but the visiting goalkeeper saved the crossbar.
In the end, the Nigerian managed to break through and took a hit. In the 74th minute, he didn’t miss the next penalty kick. This time the “eleven” was dictated for a foul on Kwaracchelia.
Fiorentina still tried to lead to an equaliser, but Giulini kept his vigil and kept a clean sheet until the end of the match. Napoli eventually won the match 1-0, and after the final whistle, another big Napoli celebration began.
