– Everyone asks us two questions alternately: “Why?”, “Why?” The answer is very simple: this is the beginning of the whole story and it was supposed to be the first part of the cult series, but in the late sixties, for political reasons, no one would allow the production of a film that would show the fraternal Soviet nation in a negative and somewhat cynical way. In fact, the trilogy without the part we currently have is incomplete, and poorer for the world in which Pawlak first fell in love, had his heart broken for the first time, and fought for his life for the first time. – says film producer Thomas Kopsky.
