Sony has just confirmed the expansion of PlayStation Studios. The company decided to continue cooperation with Firewalk Studios and the developers will now work for the Japanese company. It’s a very interesting move.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that it has acquired Firewalk Studios from Probably Monsters Inc. If you are well acquainted with the activities of the Japanese company, then you certainly remember that the PlayStation manufacturer began cooperation with this company in April 2021.
Two years ago, Sony announced that Firewalk Studios would develop a AAA website for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Apparently, the company is happy with the developers’ work, because the creators joined PlayStation Studios.
In the official announcement, Sony confirms this “Firewalk will work with world-class development teams including Bungie and Haven Interactive Studios to define the next generation of live services experiences for PlayStation gamers.”.
Firewalk Studios was founded in 2018 and since then it has been a part of ProbablyMonsters – the developers have been working on AAA games since the beginning. There are many experienced developers on the team – Harold Ryan is the CEO and was previously CEO, President and Chairman of the Board at Bungie. His company includes Tony Hsu (Head of Destiny Studios at Activision) and Ryan Ellis (Bungie Director and Creative Director).
Developers focus on online productions and thanks to this they can be a great boost for PlayStation Studios:
At Firewalk Studios, we have assembled an amazing team created specifically to deliver unforgettable multiplayer experiences to gamers around the world. SIE has supported our team’s vision from the very beginning and thanks to the incredible creative power of the PlayStation Studio ecosystem. This next exciting step will help us turn that vision into a reality,” said Tony Hsu, President of Firewalk Studios.
Firewalk Studios has approximately 150 employees and is constantly recruiting for new positions. This is the studio’s twentieth PlayStation.
