The following question was asked to the Head of the Slovak Government by a journalist from the editorial office of the liberal opinion-forming daily newspaper SME. The daily newspaper is published by Petit Press, which bought a third of its shares in 2021 New York Media Development Investment Fund (MDIF) linked to financier George Soros.
The journalist asked Fico, a pro-Russian politician who opposes military aid to Ukraine, which part of Slovakia he would sacrifice to Russia.
She did not receive an answer. – I do not answer any questions from media outlets co-owned by Mr. Soros. So unfortunately no luck, Fico responded and left the stage.
Fico announces the use of “all means” against Ukraine in NATO
The Slovak Prime Minister's comments about “peaceful” life in Kiev came on the same day that Russia launched its latest missile attack on Ukraine, damaging homes and cars in the capital and injuring 22 people, one of whom is in intensive care.
Before the meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart on January 24, Robert Fico was able to make a number of controversial statements about Ukraine. He clearly declared that he would oppose Ukraine's membership in NATO by all possible means. Fico's statements about the “regional settlement” were criticized by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
