The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) arrested Kevin Parent, a 32-year-old professor last Friday who may be responsible for other victims.
The 32-year-old man was arrested on December 15 by the Gatineau major crime investigation unit of the Sûreté du Québec. He appeared at the court of Saint-Jérôme the same day. He faces charges of sexual intercourse, solicitation of sexual intercourse and solicitation while in a position of authority on the victims, some of whom were minors at the time of the incidents, the SQ said in a press release.
According to information from Montreal Journal, Kevin Parent was a high school social studies teacher at Lavigne High School in Lachute, Laurentians. He was also a basketball coach.
The offenses he is accused of are alleged to have been committed over a period of ten years from 2012 to 2023.
Active on Facebook, Messenger and TikTok applications, Mr. SQ assesses that the parent may have caused other victims.
Also, given the number of victims, the Sûreté du Québec used a framework for managing investigations into coordinated serial crimes (GECS). “This is an integrated command structure in which Quebec police services work together to quickly detect and arrest crimes committed by poachers,” says a press release from the SQ.
