Masayasu Ito was born in 1962, and since 1986 he has been associated with the company from Tokyo, working in the car audio equipment setup department. From 2000, his professional duties included the console development division, and as of April 2008 directly boosting the ranks of Sony Interactive Entertainment. The Japanese have overseen the production of equipment for many years, led engineering work on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 – in October 2020, the specialist presented the interior design of the expected new generation. In the meantime, help bring the PS4 Pro to market.
Since 2016, he has been Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Vice President of Hardware Engineering and Operation (previously in charge of the division overseeing software and product development), and Lin Tao is currently taking over his role. Most recently the President has handled finance, corporate development and SIE strategy.
At the same time, Sony decided to promote Kiichiro Urata – the former CEO of the American and European branch of Capcom joined Sony in 2021 and is now a director.
According to Bloomberg, the reason for Masayasu Ito’s departure is his age – the specialist plans to retire at the end of this month.
