It is still difficult to get access to Sony’s latest console, two years after its launch, in some markets, but it is very likely that the situation will return to normal in the coming months. Scalpers are starting to shy away from buying more PS5 copies.
Sony failed to bring enough PlayStation 5 to market for the device’s premiere, and there are still issues with buying a console or finding equipment at a good price. Scalpers who used bots to buy consoles turned out to be quite problematic in many markets – in the British market, among others, it was quite epidemic and gamers could not get to PS5 in the normal supply of stores.
However, the situation may soon change, because according to the latest report from Netacea – PlayStation 5 is no longer the main target for speculators. For the first time since its release, the console is out of the top three products most often bought by bots.
PS5 is still in fourth place, but the value of Sony’s console is declining – this is due to an increase in deliveries by the manufacturer and a certain saturation of the market.
“This is the first time the PlayStation 5 has not made it to the top three in our index, reflecting a slight decrease in the number of bots targeting the console due to increased inventory. Resale value, however, remained stable, with only a 2% decrease from last quarter.
These are the products that Scalpers programs have most often targeted in July-September 2022:
- Adidas Yeezy Slide Bone
- Nike Dunk Low Panda
- Panini Donneros Optical Football Trading Cards
- Playstation 5
- Jordan 1 Retro Low OG UNC
