Quebec businessman and patron Daniel Langlois and his wife Dominique Marchand were found dead on the Caribbean island of Dominica.
According to Dominica News Online, they would be the occupants of a burnt vehicle found by police officers near the town of Galleon. The article stated that the couple had been missing for a few days. Police have arrested 3 people in connection with this case.
Born in 1957 Mr. Langlois has been involved in sustainable development projects over the years, including Coulibre Ridge., A self-contained hotel in Dominica that has won multiple awards.
He is the creator and founder of SOFTIMAGE, a company recognized for 3D animation techniques. From 1986 to 1998, he was its President and Chief Technology Officer. In 1994, he sold his company to Microsoft.
Daniel Langlois was named a Knight of the National Order of Quebec in 1999. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences awarded him the Science and Technology Oscar in 1997.
The Daniel Langlois Foundation was established in the same year. The private, non-profit and philanthropic organization aims to “contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the arts and sciences by promoting their intersection in the field of technology”.
