General admission tickets for the Festival d’été de Québec are not as popular as they once were. In recent days, many of them are being sold on the internet at cost or even at a discount.
This contrasts with the situation we experienced the day after they went on sale, when some resellers fetched double and sometimes triple the price, angering many festival-goers who were unable to get their hands on them.
But a few days before the event begins, some resellers fear getting stuck with their passes. According to the administrators and subscribers of the resale pages, the weather, the economic environment and a less spectacular program than usual partially explain this “artificialization” before the start of the event.
“In my opinion, people are aware of the fact that paying crazy prices is ridiculous,” observes the administrator of one of these pages, whose main mandate is to ensure “no queries”. Resale Group.
“Last Minute”
However, the person, who wishes to remain anonymous for professional reasons, says that the demand for buying passes on resale pages has increased significantly in recent days.
“I think it comes down to the last minute,” he adds, referring to the uncertainty of the weather and the budget available to festival-goers.
Jerome Pomerleau was one of the festival-goers who chose to resell two of their passes for a price. Making a profit was not an option, he even offered delivery.
“Our decision to sell was made at the last minute,” he explains. We don’t want to get caught up in it and enjoy the crap [de la revente]».
On various resale pages, many passes were shown for ten dollars less than the price paid.
