“Possession”: A classic horror film

Filmed in 1981, Possession is set in West Berlin during the Cold War. Mark (Sam Neill) and Anna (Isabelle Adjani) are going through a marital crisis caused by the man’s long absence and the woman’s relationship. Anna neglects their normal child and falls into increasingly extreme emotional states, making communication difficult. Mark wants to save the relationship, so he tries to find out the reason for his wife’s strange behavior. He soon discovers a terrifying secret.

Possession had its world premiere in the main competition of the Cannes Film Festival in 1981. The film initially received mixed reviews, but over the years it gained the status of a cult work and a classic of horror cinema.
