“Gladiator 2” is undoubtedly a movie audiences have been waiting for – if only for its cult character and first production phenomenon. This one is still very popular and almost everyone who gives it a chance seems to be happy with the project. So if the sequel can at least maintain the level, we’ll see a hit. That may be the case.
Interestingly, although the production makes strong references to the earlier production, at the moment there is little doubt about Russell Crowe’s involvement – neither as an actor, nor even as a consultant. This situation was recently mentioned by the man himself, though he noted that should the label reach out to him for help with any matter related to production, He certainly won’t refuse:
I’m sure they’ll want to ask me something at some point, but they haven’t touched anything in a long time. It expands the narrative, but it’s well after Maximus’ death, so it doesn’t apply to me at all. I heard this young man, Paul, is a nice guy and I wish him all the best. I think the plot starts with a young Lucius assuming the role of Emperor. It’s a very rational idea within the world we’ve created for the movie.
Whichever way you look at it, despite Crowe’s unquestionable skills, Dropping out from a certain stage can be beneficial to production. After all, this will be one of the ways to avoid comparisons with the previous part in a sense. And let’s hope that despite this (or for the sake of it :)) we will be able to create a really solid piece of film.
