Russian invasion of Ukraine.  Germany responds to Russia over 'fighting Nazism'

On Saturday, the Russian Embassy in South Africa said it was receiving support – in the form of messages of solidarity – from South Africans and from various organizations in South Africa.

“We are glad that you decided to support us today, because Russia, like 80 years ago, is fighting Nazism in Ukraine!” – Russian diplomats wrote from their official Twitter account.

The German Embassy in South Africa decided to respond forcefully. “We are sorry, but we cannot remain silent about this. Russia in Ukraine is killing innocent children, women and men. This is certainly not a fight against Nazism. Anyone who falls into this discourse should be ashamed. (Unfortunately, we know very little about Nazism), wrote representatives of German embassy.
