Saturday was an important day for the Pomeranian University in Słupsk. At a special conference in the hall of the university, the effect of several months of work of scientists, university employees and the Słupsk Loton company was presented: a new cosmetic product – a living serum.
The conference called Beauty InnoDay with Pomeranian University was a summary of many months of work for many people. Workers of the Pomeranian University in Słupsk, as well as employees of the Luton company.
Dr. Hap discussed how important this is for the university in Słupsk. Marek Chukasek, AP Professor, University Vice-Chancellor for Development and Cooperation, who opened the conference: – I am pleased to welcome you on behalf of the Dean of the Pomeranian University in Słupsk, Dr. Haap. M. Zbigniew Osadowski, AP Professor, who could not be with us today due to other duties. For us, this is a celebration and a very important day. This is the moment we announce our innovation to the world. These are innovations in the direction of cosmetics. Demonstrating our collaboration with well-developed local companies that are making such impacts.
At the conference, a live serum produced by Słupsk Loton Cosmetics was presented.
– It is an innovative preparation, developed and tested by our scientists, – confirmed Sonia Hilarica, AP innovation moderator, who coordinated the collaboration with Loton, so that the scientists’ work would be translated into a new product for the cosmetics industry.
The lotion was introduced by the creators: Wioleta Jankowiak, PhD, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Anna Komurek, MA.
– A living stand stood for a long time on the windowsill of my house. I’ve been watching her for a long time. I read scientific publications from all over the world on this topic – explained Wioleta Jankowiak. – It is a plant that grows in such a specific environment in the United States, Australia and China and tends to hold water very strongly. I started looking for it.
It turns out that viburnum was used in ancient medicine as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic. Studies have confirmed the healing properties of this plant resulting from the chemical compounds it contains, and it has been reported that it accelerates the wound healing process, has antibacterial properties, calms inflammation, soothes redness, and reduces skin discoloration and swelling. Researchers from the Associated Press decided to take advantage of this. So they developed and tested the properties of a live pregnancy-based preparation.
An innovation broker from Słupsk University has led to a collaboration with Loton in Słupsk. This product produced a live serum.
Mariusz Głaszcz, President of Loton Cosmetics Sp: – Our first meeting took place in February last year. As you can see, the development of such projects is not a week or a month. It all lasts. These are additional tests, laboratory tests.
In the end there was trouble getting an approved live bearer. However, everything was a success. Conference participants can use samples of the serum already produced. It consists only of natural ingredients.
The product was created as part of a grant for pre-implementation work under the Interdisciplinary Incubator for Innovation 4.0 project. It was implemented by a consortium of the University of Economics in Bydgoszcz and the Pomeranian University in Supsk.
Currently, the innovative setup is undergoing patent procedures. In the future, it will be produced and sold as a product for beauty salons and home use.
Therefore, if anyone has doubts whether a local university contributes to the development of economic life in the region, they can see how wrong they are.
At the conference, it was emphasized that education in the field of cosmetology has been provided at the Pomeranian University in Słupsk since 2015.
– Currently, the cosmetology course is being conducted at the Pomeranian University as part of the medical sciences at the Institute of Health Sciences – said Monica Wako, Ph.D., director of the institute.
– The study program, meanwhile, has been decided towards medical studies. The mission of our institute is to disseminate knowledge, but also research activities when it comes to medical and health sciences. What you saw today fit perfectly with our mission and activities. When it comes to medical science, it is not easy to enter into business relations, we mainly deal with the patient or customer in the case of cosmetic surgery. But here he succeeded.
The conference was attended by: university authorities, employees and students of the university, residents of Słupsk, business representatives from the region. Everyone can benefit from new product samples.
