Former GKSŻ vice president Zbigniew Fiałkowski said in an interview with WP SportoweFakty that he proposed postponing the 2023 IMP final in Krosno a few days before the event. Piotr Szymański reacted to his words.
A big scandal broke out about what happened in Krosno at the end of July 2023. The decisive final match of the Polish Individual Championships (IMP) was scheduled to take place at that time. Despite favorable weather conditions, it was not possible to hold the competition on Sunday 30 July and the following day.
In the end, the tournament was moved to Lodz. During an interview with WP SportoweFakty, Zbigniew Fialkowski (former head of the Main MotoGP Sports Committee), who was heavily involved in organizing the competition, revealed the behind-the-scenes of what happened in Krosno (Read here >>>).
He said, for example, that on July 24, six days before the planned IMP final, he asked a friend to regularly come to the stadium and take pictures if any work was being carried out.

– Two days later, I received very disturbing materials from him. It turned out that the equipment entered the track in the morning, before heavy rain, and swept it to a depth of about 30 or 40 centimetres. Fialkowski noted that at about 1 p.m., just before the heavy rain, the surface was clumsily compacted. – I described the whole situation, attached photos and sent them to Piotr Szymanski and Maciej Polny (…) – he added.
He also admitted that he suggested postponing the competition. – I even suggested the date of August 14, but the answer was that it was not possible – he said.
Did he really suggest changing the IMP deadline to July 26? Piotr Szymański, who until recently was Chairman of the Board of Directors of GKSŻ, spoke about this in an interview with WP SportoweFakty.
– Yes, of course. In such situations, there are many solutions, and this was one of them. However, during conversations with people in Krosno, a joint decision was made to continue work on the track. On Sunday – on the way to Krosno – in response to my question whether it would be better to postpone the competition to Monday, since Canal+ has a window, I received an answer from Zbyszek (Zbigniew Fiałkowski – editor's note) that the track is suitable for driving – Szymański commented briefly.
