Iga Swiatek has already played her first match at the 2024 Wimbledon Grand Slam, after winning two sets, the Polish tennis player entered the second round. Find out what the rankings look like after the WTA ranking leader’s win.

After her victory at Roland Garros, Iga Swiatek took a break from the tour. She returned to competition on Tuesday in the first round match of the 2024 Wimbledon Grand Slam, and in the opening match at the All England Club, our representative defeated the American Sofia Kenin 6:3, 6:4 (more here).

At Wimbledon, Swiatek defended 430 points from last year’s quarterfinals. Our tennis player has a chance to improve her achievements and thus increase her advantage over the rest of the group. At the moment, in the direct ranking, the Pole is ahead of the second-placed Coco Gauff by 3222 points. Let us remind you that the American qualified for the second round of the London Championship on Monday.

There are up to 2,000 points to be won on the Wimbledon grass. So, if our representative manages to win the full prize pool, she will cross the incredible barrier of 13,000 Polish zlotys. Points. That would be space! But there is still a long way to go. On Thursday, Swiatek will face Croatian Petra Martic in the second round.

Meanwhile, a lot is happening behind our representative’s back. Coco Gauff has passed 8,000 points and can only get better. Every victory for the American at Wimbledon will mean an increase in her advantage over third-ranked Aryna Sabalenka.

Let us remind you that the Belarusian had to withdraw due to a muscle injury. As a result, she will be deducted 780 points. Therefore, the Kazakh Jelena Rybakina, who was the best in London two years ago, has a chance to overtake Sabalenka.

The women’s singles final will be held on Saturday, July 13. The official WTA rankings after Wimbledon 2024 will be released on Monday, July 15.
