Strong message from Pogoń Szczecin fans. We are talking about Legia Warsaw

Pogoń Szczecin fans no longer have neutral relations with Legia Warszawa fans? This is evidenced by the words said in the stands before the match between Pride of Pomerania and Korona Kielce, as reported by Daniel Trzpacz from Pogonsportnet.pl.

Legia Warszawa fans have been friends with Pogoń Szczecin for many years. The agreement was finalized in September 2013, although a few weeks earlier, fans of both teams were enjoying a match between the two teams. The reason for the move has never been confirmed, with both groups posting terse messages, but one of the most likely clues points to Rome and the then-Europa League match between Legia and Lazio. There, there was a conflict between fans of the “Pride of Pomerania” and another Legia team – Zagłębie Sosnowiec.

“The fans from Warsaw found themselves between a rock and a hard place and did not choose a side. This was supposed to finally put an end to the “agreement” that had lasted for almost two decades. Why finally? Because things had been going wrong between Zagłębie and Pogoń for years, which had aroused a grudge among the people of Szczecin towards the fans from Warsaw. Those who were put against the wall chose the people of Sosnowiec,” one could read in “Przegląd Sportowy Onet”.

Pogoń and Legia Warszawa fans did not automatically become enemies. Relations between the two sides remained neutral, but it seems that everything has come to an end.

“Gniazdów before the match: From today the neutral relations with Legia are over. From now on, Legia is S…K…,” wrote Daniel Trzpacz of Pogonsportnet.pl on Twitter.

There is no shortage of speculation on social media that the background to the whole affair is related to relations between Pogo fans and fans of another club, but this has not been confirmed.

Szczecin will face Korona Kielce on Saturday in the first round of the Extraklasse.
