Sunday’s Wimbledon final: A new public outing for Kate Middleton

Princess Kate, who is being treated for cancer, will compete in the men’s final of the Wimbledon tennis tournament on Sunday, Kensington Palace announced on Saturday, apparently encouraging her recovery.

The very popular Princess of Wales, 42, “will compete in the men’s singles final of the Wimbledon Championships on Sunday 14 July,” the palace wrote in a press release.

According to British press agency PA, he will present the trophy to the winner of the tournament, either Serbia’s Novak Djokovic or Spain’s Carlos Algaraz.

Her husband William, heir to the British throne, will be in Berlin on Sunday evening to attend the Euro soccer final between England and Spain.

Kate’s appearance at Wimbledon will be her second public appearance in nearly seven months.

William’s wife announced in a video in late March that she was undergoing preventive chemotherapy against the cancer.

With no official engagements until after Christmas, she made her first public appearance again on 15 June during King Charles III’s birthday parade.

Kate is very involved with the tennis federation and is a regular at Wimbledon. Rumors have been circulating throughout the week that he will appear this weekend for the finals of the competition.

Last week, he paid tribute to Scotsman Andy Murray on social media. “An incredible career at Wimbledon is coming to an end. You can be very proud Andy Murray. Thank you on behalf of all of us!” He signed this message “C” (Catherine).

“good progress”

On June 15, the Princess made a smiling appearance on the Buckingham Balcony with Charles III, Queen Camilla, William and their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.

He was warmly applauded by the public who turned out in large numbers to attend the “Trooping the Color” military parade organized every June.

Earlier in the day, he announced in a message posted on social networks – his first speech since his illness was announced – that he would attend the festive event due to the “good progress” of his treatment.

“As anyone who has undergone chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days,” Kate wrote in the message, noting that her treatment will last “many more months.”

“Knowing that I’m not out of the woods yet, I hope to be able to participate in some public engagements this summer,” he added.

King Charles III, 75, also has cancer and is currently undergoing treatment, but resumed his public engagements several months ago.

He attended commemorations organized to mark the 80th anniversary of his landing in France. In late June, he received the Emperor of Japan and his wife on a state visit.

On Friday, the king’s sister, Princess Anne, resumed her duties after being hospitalized after being hit on the head by a horse at the end of June.

The 73-year-old daughter of Queen Elizabeth II took part in a competition in Gloucestershire organized by the Disabled Riding Association, an equestrian association that welcomes people with disabilities.

“Super soldier! Nice to see you again soon!” Kate and William wrote on social network X to welcome Anne back.
